The decimal column only moves the point six places, so its answers stay short. The binary column divides by 1,048,576, which is 2 to the 20th power, and most of its cells run to many digits.
Two rows mark one gigabyte in each system. 1000000 kB is exactly 1 GB, and 1048576 KiB is exactly 1 GiB. Read either row across and the other column misses by a few percent: about 4.6 percent for 1000000 and 4.9 percent for 1048576.

The factor is two prefix steps at once. A kilobyte is 1000 bytes and a gigabyte is 1000 × 1000 × 1000 bytes, so one gigabyte is 1,000,000 kilobytes. In binary, 1024 × 1024 gives 1,048,576 kibibytes in one gibibyte of 1,073,741,824 bytes.

To go from GB back to kB, multiply by 1,000,000, so 2 GB is 2000000 kB. For GiB to KiB, multiply by 1,048,576: 2 GiB is 2097152 KiB.
How to convert KB to GB

Limits
Rounding can hide a small size. With Round to decimal places set to 3, 1 kB converts to ≈ 0.000 GB, because the answer is smaller than half of 0.001. Keep Exact, or raise Decimal places to 6, and it reads 0.000001 GB.
KB and GB on a label can count in 1000s or in 1024s, and the page cannot tell which. Several converters divide by 1,048,576 while still writing KB and GB. When a figure came from one of them, choose KiB and GiB here.

Is 1024 KB equal to 1 GB?
No. 1024 KiB is 1 MiB, not 1 GiB, and it converts to 0.0009765625 GiB. As decimal units, 1024 kB is 0.001024 GB. One gibibyte takes 1024 times as many, 1,048,576 KiB, because each step between binary prefixes is 1024.
