Every cell here is a whole number, because each row's number times 1000 or 1024 comes out whole. The binary column pulls ahead as the sizes grow: at 200 the readings are 200000 MB and 204800 MiB, a gap of 4800.
From 16 to 128 each row doubles the one before, so the MiB values are powers of 2 as well. The first row covers half sizes, where 0.5 GB is 500 MB and 0.5 GiB is 512 MiB.

The decimal factor comes from the prefixes giga (one billion) and mega (one million), so each gigabyte splits into 1000 megabytes. The binary factor is 2 to the 10th power: a gibibyte of 1,073,741,824 bytes splits into 1024 mebibytes of 1,048,576 bytes.
Cross readings need the byte count in between. 1 GiB converts to 1073.741824 MB, and 1 GB converts to 953.67431640625 MiB. Choose GiB with MB, or GB with MiB, in From and To, and Convert gives these figures exactly.
Fractions follow the same rule, so 1.5 GB is 1500 MB and 0.001 GB is 1 MB. To go the other way, from megabytes to gigabytes, divide by 1000 or by 1024.
How to convert GB to MB

Limits
This converter changes the unit of a number. It cannot read the free space on a disk or the size of a file on your device.
GB and GiB are separate choices in the lists, and the tool does not guess which one a device or a data plan meant. When a label only says GB, check whether its maker counts in 1000 or 1024 before you convert.
Gigabits are not gigabytes. A gigabit (Gbit) is one eighth of a gigabyte, so 1 Gbit is 125 MB while 1 GB is 1000 MB. A rate per second, such as Gbps, needs a data rate converter.
Answers are never shortened into scientific notation. A large input such as 1e9 GB prints every zero of 1000000000000 MB, and the page sets no length limit of its own.

How many MB is 1 GB?
1 GB is 1000 MB in decimal units, the reading this converter uses for GB and MB. In binary units, 1 GiB is 1024 MiB. The two readings describe different amounts: 1 GiB holds 1,073,741,824 bytes, which is 73,741,824 bytes more than the 1,000,000,000 bytes in 1 GB.
How much is 5 GB of data in MB?
5 GB is 5000 MB, since each gigabyte is 1000 megabytes. If the 5 counts gibibytes, 5 GiB is 5120 MiB. Type 5 in Quantity, keep GB to MB and select Convert. The Other equivalent units rows then show 5000000000 B and 4768.37158203125 MiB for the decimal size.
What is 200 GB in MB?
200 GB is 200000 MB. As a binary size, 200 GiB is 204800 MiB, which is 4800 more. The table above lists 200 in both units, and the converter prints the same figures with nothing rounded. For terabytes, divide the gigabytes by 1000 instead, so 200 GB is 0.2 TB.
What is larger, a MB or a GB?
A gigabyte is larger. It holds 1000 megabytes, so 1 GB converts to 1000 MB and 1 MB converts to 0.001 GB. Between the binary units the step is 1024, so 1 GiB is 1024 MiB. Even 999 MB is only 0.999 GB, just short of one gigabyte.
