Privacy and compatibility
Your files stay in browser memory. Reset releases this page’s file and output. Each run starts from the original selection.
Text and scans stay as PDF content. The document is saved again, which invalidates digital signatures. Forms, bookmarks and annotations are kept when possible; complex interactive features may behave differently. Metadata is not removed, and this tool does not sanitize PDFs.
Frequently asked questions
How do I skip a cover page?
Select “Selected pages” and enter a range beginning with 2. The first selected page gets your chosen starting number.
Does this replace existing numbers or page labels?
No. It adds visible text. Existing content and PDF navigation labels remain. Use a different position if a page already has a number.
What about rotated or cropped pages?
Positions follow the visible page orientation and the intersection of its crop and media boxes. Margins and font size use points (72 points per inch). Reduce the size or margin if the number cannot fit.
Which files can I process?
Choose a readable, unencrypted PDF. Password-protected or malformed PDFs show an error. Large or complex files can exceed browser memory; Cancel stops the current operation. Numbering can increase file size.
What if the preview cannot render?
The PDF download remains available. Open it in a PDF reader to inspect the result. Browser previews may differ in font or complex-feature rendering.
