Your files stay on your device
Processing runs in your browser. Your file and text are kept in memory, without uploads or browser storage. Reset releases the selected file and output. Each run starts from the original PDF.
Practical limits
Choose a readable, unencrypted PDF. Large or complex documents can exceed browser memory; Cancel stops the operation. Embedding a font can increase file size.
Saving edits invalidates digital signatures. Existing page content, annotations, forms and bookmarks are kept when possible; complex interactive features may behave differently. Metadata stays in the document. This tool does not sanitize PDFs.
Fonts and placement
DejaVu Sans, Serif and Sans Mono support many Latin, Greek and Cyrillic characters. Characters missing from a font, unsupported control characters, and text needing combining-mark placement or right-to-left layout produce an error with the Unicode code point. Nothing is silently substituted.
Each header and footer is one line. Text is normalized to NFC. Text that cannot fit a selected page produces an error; reduce the size or margins, or shorten the line. Content stays at its original size. Add space enlarges selected pages; Overlay retains page size and may cover existing content.
Frequently asked questions
How do page and date placeholders work?
{page} becomes the physical page number, and {pages} becomes the total PDF page count. A selection of pages 2–4 still prints 2, 3 and 4. {date} uses the date field in YYYY-MM-DD format, initially your local date. Other brace text remains literal.
How do I skip the cover?
Choose Selected pages and enter a range beginning at 2. Repeated selections count once and are processed in document order.
Does this replace existing headers and footers?
Existing text, images and PDF page labels remain. Add space creates new header/footer margins outside the original visible page. Overlay adds text over the existing page; use empty areas and inspect the result.
What happens to rotated, cropped or scanned pages?
Original content keeps its rotation and size, and cropped content stays hidden. Notes or links crossing a cropped edge may require Overlay instead. Original print trim settings remain unchanged and may exclude the added margins. Mixed page sizes are supported. Scans remain images, with selectable header and footer text added.
What if the preview cannot render?
The download remains available. Open the PDF in a reader to inspect it. Browser rendering of complex PDF features can differ from other readers.
