How to rearrange PDF pages

To reorder PDF pages, choose the file, move the page rows into the order you want, then create and download the new PDF. The steps below use the labels on the page.

1. Select Choose PDF and pick one PDF. The file name, page count and file size appear, with one row for each page.
2. Drag a row onto another place in the list, or select its up and down arrow buttons. With a row focused, Alt + Up or Alt + Down moves it one place.
3. To move a page a long way, type its number in Move original page, type the new place in to position, then select Move.
4. Select Create reordered PDF, then Download PDF. A file named report.pdf is saved as report-reordered.pdf.

The rows show page numbers, not page previews, so open the download and check it before you share it. If you move a page after creating the PDF, Create reordered PDF comes back so you can save the new order.

Reverse, restore and move pages by number

Reverse order flips the whole list, so the last page becomes the first. That puts a stack scanned back to front in the right order with one click. Restore original order puts every row back to 1, 2, 3 and so on.

Each row has two numbers. The badge on the left is the page's new position, and the label names the original page by its place in the file you chose. A report whose cover is printed as i still has that cover as Original page 1.

The typed move takes whole numbers from 1 to the page count, and a wrong entry gets a message that names the field to fix. For example, in a 4-page PDF you can move page 3 to position 1, then page 4 to position 3, to get 3, 1, 4, 2. A check on the real engine saved that order with each page's size in its new place.

What the new PDF keeps

The new PDF holds every original page exactly once, in the order of the list from top to bottom. Each page keeps its size, crop box, rotation and drawn content, so text stays text and a scanned page stays an image. The tool does not resize pages, compress images or run text recognition.

The tool always starts from the file you chose, so creating the PDF again gives the same result for the same order. After the run, the page shows the size of the original and of the new PDF, and it says when the new file is not smaller. A single-page PDF can also be saved, and the page then reports that the order is unchanged. Your original file is left as it was, since the result is a separate download named after it.

What changes in forms, links and bookmarks

Form fields are flattened. Their values are drawn onto the page and can no longer be edited. Links to web addresses keep working, but links that jump to another page of the same document are removed.

Bookmarks, file attachments, document actions, accessibility tags and document metadata such as the title and author are not copied into the new PDF. Page labels, language, viewer preferences, layer visibility settings and print color profiles are left out too, so a layered or print-ready PDF can look different. A digital signature is no longer valid after the pages are copied into a new file.

If you need any of these features, keep using your original file for them. A form made only with XFA cannot be drawn, so export a normal PDF copy from your PDF viewer first.

Limits

This tool only changes the order. It cannot delete, duplicate, rotate or add pages, and it works on one PDF at a time. Every page appears in the result exactly once.

A password-protected PDF is refused, and the message asks for an unprotected copy. There is no password field. A damaged or incomplete file, for example one whose download stopped early, is reported as unreadable. A file that is not a PDF is refused too.

The tool sets no page or file-size limit of its own, and it lists a row for every page, however many there are. A very large PDF can need more memory than the browser tab has, and the tool then reports that it ran out of memory. Cancel stops a run at any point. A run that fails or is cancelled gives no partial download.

Can you rearrange the order of a PDF?

Rows move one at a time, by drag, arrow button, Alt + Up or Down, or a typed position. Reverse order is the one control that moves every page at once: it flips the whole document. To move a block of pages, move each page of the block in turn, starting with the page that should come first.
