JPG to PDF converter

    3. PDF settings

    Equal margins on all sides. Fit image follows each image’s shape and adds margins; orientation and layout apply to A4 and Letter.

    Smaller file saves images that arrived as JPEG at JPEG quality 92; everything else stays lossless PNG. Lossless keeps every decoded pixel and can make photo PDFs many times larger.

    Images that cannot be read stay listed with an error. Any partial PDF names the skipped images.

    How do you convert JPG to PDF?

    To convert JPG to PDF, add the photos, put them in order, pick the page settings and create the PDF. Each step below uses a label shown on this page.

    1. Select Choose images, or drag JPG files onto the Drag and drop images here area. Files ending in .jpg and .jpeg both work.
    2. Wait until each row shows the photo's width and height in pixels. A phone photo taken upright shows its upright size.
    3. Put the photos in page order with Up and Down. Rotate turns a photo 90° clockwise, and Remove takes it out of the list.
    4. Under PDF settings, choose Page size, Page orientation, Image layout, Margin (mm) and Image quality.
    5. Select Create PDF, look through the pages with Previous and Next, then select Download PDF to save images.pdf.

    Changing the list or a setting clears the finished PDF, so select Create PDF again. Reset empties the list and brings back the default settings.

    What happens to JPEG quality

    The default Image quality setting, Smaller file, keeps each JPG as a JPEG image inside the PDF. The tool does not copy the original file into the PDF. It decodes the photo, turns it upright and saves it again at JPEG quality 92, so each photo goes through one more round of lossy compression.

    In a check with a 640 × 480 test photo, the saved copy differed from the original by at most 6 of 255 levels in any color channel, and by 0.35 on average. The PDF came out at 29.87 KB from a 31.38 KB JPG.

    Lossless stores the decoded pixels as PNG instead, with no further loss. The same photo then made a 453.03 KB PDF, about 15 times larger. Choose Lossless only when an exact copy of the decoded pixels matters more than file size. Neither setting brings back detail that the JPG compression already removed.

    Merge several JPG files into one PDF

    One PDF holds every photo in the list, one photo per page, in list order. Select several files at once in the file picker, or add them in batches with Add more images. The list numbers the photos, and Up and Down move them.

    In a check, three JPG files became a three-page PDF in list order, and all three pages kept JPEG storage. A PDF can also mix JPG files with PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, AVIF and SVG images. With Smaller file only the photos that arrived as JPEG are saved as JPEG; the rest are stored as PNG.

    If one file cannot be read, the other photos still make a PDF. The result then reports a partial result, names each skipped file and shows the page count and file size. Cancel stops a run and keeps the photos that were already prepared, so you can select Create PDF again.

    Page size for phone photos

    The default page is A4 with a 10 mm margin, Auto orientation and the Contain layout. Auto gives a landscape page to a wide photo and a portrait page to a tall or square one, so one PDF can mix both.

    A 12-megapixel phone photo of 4032 × 3024 pixels gets a landscape A4 page on these defaults. Contain draws it 253.3 × 190.0 mm inside the margins, which is about 404 pixels per inch. Cover fills the whole area inside the margins instead and crops the edges that do not fit.

    Fit image sizes each page to its photo at 96 pixels per inch. With Margin (mm) set to 0, the same photo gets a 42 × 31.5 inch page. The stored pixels are the same either way; only the page size and the print scale change. Choose A4 or Letter when the PDF will be printed or sent as a document.

    Limits

    The tool sets no limit on the number of photos or their size. The browser's memory is the practical limit, so a very large batch can stop with a memory error. If that happens, add fewer photos at a time.

    Each photo gets its own page. The tool cannot put two photos on one page, add captions or set a password. Text in a photo of a document stays part of the picture, since the tool does not recognize text.

    Photo metadata stays behind. The PDF carries no EXIF data from the photos, such as the camera model, the date taken or a GPS location, and it has no title, author or creation date. A CMYK JPEG is converted to RGB. HEIC photos from an iPhone load only in browsers that can open HEIC, so export them as JPEG if a row shows an error.

    Can you PDF a JPG file?

    Yes. Add the JPG on this page, select Create PDF and then Download PDF. The photo becomes one page of images.pdf, on A4 by default or on a page of its own size with Fit image. With Smaller file it stays a JPEG image inside the PDF, saved again at quality 92.

    How to combine JPG into one PDF for free?

    How do I convert a photo to PDF on iPhone?

    Open this page in the iPhone browser, tap Choose images and pick the photos. Put them in order with Up and Down, tap Create PDF, then tap Download PDF. The steps and settings are the same as on a computer. If a photo shows an error in its row, export it as JPEG and add it again.

    Does converting JPG to PDF reduce quality?

    A little, with the default Smaller file setting. Each photo is saved again at JPEG quality 92, and in a check no color value moved by more than 6 of 255. The photo keeps its full pixel size and is never scaled down. Lossless avoids the extra step but makes the PDF many times larger.

    Are my files uploaded?

    No. The tool reads each JPG, turns it upright and writes the PDF in your browser, in a Web Worker. Your photos are not sent to a server and are not saved in browser storage. Reset clears the list and the finished PDF and restores the default settings.
