Frequently asked questions
How do layouts and cropping work?
Grid uses equal cells in row order, with any unused final cells showing the background. A horizontal strip has one row; a vertical strip has one column. Cell sizes can differ by one pixel when dimensions do not divide evenly. Crop to fill trims the image to its cell; Fit inside keeps the entire image with background around it. The position sliders move the image across cropped or spare space, and have no visible effect along an axis where it already fits exactly.
Will the downloaded file match the preview?
The arrangement preview uses the same layout as the export, scaled down for display. Build collage creates the full-size file and replaces the preview with that exact result, including JPEG compression. Changing images or settings clears the previous download. The exported width and height are the pixel dimensions you entered.
Which images can I use?
The tool tries your browser's image decoder regardless of the filename or extension. PNG, JPEG and WebP are common choices; other formats depend on your browser. Empty, damaged or unsupported files produce an error while valid images remain available. Animated files become a single still image. There is no imposed image-count or pixel cap; available memory and browser canvas capabilities determine what can finish. Cancel & reset stops processing and clears the collage.
Does a collage preserve image quality and metadata?
Images are resized to fit the chosen cells. PNG adds no lossy compression; JPEG quality controls lossy encoding. Both formats use the chosen solid background, including behind transparent pixels. Original metadata is removed. Browser decoding and sRGB output can change wide-gamut or HDR colors. A collage may be larger than its source files; it is not a compression tool.
