Your files stay on your device
Image decoding and pixel processing run in your browser. Your image and filename are not uploaded, logged or saved by this tool. Clear the image or leave the page to release it.
What changes
The tool measures the paper color around each area and makes pixels transparent when they are about as bright as that paper. Darker pixels become ink: solid strokes are opaque, and antialiased edges get partial transparency with the paper color removed, so no pale outline shows on dark backgrounds. It does not identify a signature or reconstruct missing ink. Hard shadow edges, ruled lines and darker marks may remain, and faint ink may be removed. Speck cleanup can erase intentional dots, so it starts off.
The PNG keeps the source pixel size, cropped to the signature when cropping is on; it is never scaled. With Keep original, edge and lighter ink colors are recalculated rather than copied, and the browser canvas rounds the color of nearly transparent pixels. The PNG contains one decoded still frame. Source metadata and animation are not retained. Orientation is applied; browser decoding and sRGB canvas export can change wide-gamut or HDR colors. A PNG can be larger than the source.

Why are strokes missing?
Raise the threshold to keep lighter pixels, reduce the faint-edge fade, and set speck removal to zero. Dark ink on lighter paper works best; light ink on dark paper is not supported. Use Crop image first if your photo contains unrelated marks.
Does the checkerboard appear in my download?
No. It shows transparent areas behind the exact PNG offered for download. Other viewers may display transparency on white or another color.
Which files can I use?
JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF, AVIF and static SVG images are supported. Available memory and browser capabilities determine what can be processed. Unsupported or damaged images show an error and leave your current signature in place. Clear image stops processing and releases the image.
Does this create a digital signature?
It only edits an existing image you choose. It does not generate a person's signature, verify identity or add a certificate-based digital signature. A pasted signature image can be copied by anyone who receives it, and whether it is accepted is up to the recipient.
