Crop trims the edges around the center, keeping the original aspect ratio to whole-pixel rounding. Keep whole image expands the canvas.

Background applies to Keep whole image, or to images with transparency: a cropped opaque image has no empty area to fill.

Guides and checkerboard are only viewing aids; they are not part of the download. While you adjust, the result box shows a quick live preview; after Apply angle it shows the actual exported image.

Export creates a still PNG, resamples angled edges, removes source metadata and uses sRGB color. HDR and wide-gamut appearance may change.

How to straighten an image

  1. Choose a photo. The original preview applies the source orientation.
  2. Enter an angle or move the slider and watch the live preview until the horizon follows a guide. Choose crop and background settings, then Apply angle to create the PNG.
  3. Check the actual result and dimensions, then Download PNG. Reset restores the default settings; Clear image releases the file.
Does this detect the horizon automatically?

No. You choose the angle manually. Positive values turn clockwise and negative values turn counterclockwise. Guides help you align a horizon or building edge by eye. Every adjustment uses the original decoded image, so repeat exports do not accumulate resampling.

What does Crop empty corners do?

It keeps the largest centered rectangle with the original aspect ratio that fits inside the rotated image, rounding its width and height down to whole pixels. This removes the new empty corners by trimming image edges, without enlarging the remaining content. Keep whole image instead expands the canvas to include all corners. Source transparency remains in transparent mode. Very narrow images may not leave a whole-pixel crop at some angles; use Keep whole image in that case.

Does straightening change image quality or metadata?

Non-right angles use browser interpolation, which may soften details. Downloads are still PNGs, with source metadata removed and EXIF orientation applied before editing. Animated inputs become one decoded frame, shown in the original preview. Browser decoding and sRGB export can change wide-gamut or HDR colors. Zero degrees still re-encodes the image. File size may increase; this tool does not promise compression or automatic quality improvement.

Do my files leave this device?

No. Decoding, rotation, cropping and PNG encoding run in your browser. This tool does not upload or store your image. Clear the image or leave the page to release it. Cancel & clear stops an active operation.

Which files and browsers can I use?

The tool tries your browser's native image decoder, including JPEG, PNG and WebP; other formats depend on the browser. Use a current browser that can create PNG images. Damaged or unsupported files show an error. Available memory and native canvas limits determine what can be processed.
