Frequently asked questions
Which fonts and languages can I use?
DejaVu Sans, Serif and Sans Mono are bundled locally in regular and bold weights. Unicode and right-to-left captions are accepted. Characters outside these fonts use your browser’s fallback fonts and may show missing-glyph boxes. Check the preview before saving.
How do wrapping and custom placement work?
Each caption wraps at its text-box width. Words too wide for a line are split by character clusters. Text is not automatically shrunk. Top/bottom placement keeps the box centered horizontally; custom X/Y positions its top-left corner in image pixels. Later captions draw over earlier captions. Text that extends outside the image is clipped with a warning. You can use Add text to image for draggable, rotated text layers.
What happens to animation, image orientation and metadata?
The browser applies image orientation while decoding. Animated and multi-image formats become the single frame your browser decodes. Output is a new static PNG at the decoded dimensions with transparency. Original metadata, editable layers, animation and color-profile metadata are not preserved. Browser decoding and sRGB rendering can change colors in HDR or color-managed images.
Which images work, and why might one fail?
Image support and available memory depend on your browser and device. Damaged or unsupported images show an error. There is no tool-imposed file-size, caption-length or dimension cap. Use a current browser that supports image generation. Cancel & clear stops processing; choose the file again to restart.
