    Frequently asked questions

    Which formats can I resize?

    PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, TIFF and SVG are supported. Other formats, including HEIC, work only when your browser can decode them. Files are tried regardless of their extension or reported type. Export PNG, JPEG or WebP. SVG is rasterized; external images and fonts are not fetched, and scripts do not run. Unsupported SVG features may look different.

    Are orientation and aspect ratio preserved?

    Orientation is applied before sizing. Fit, width, height and percentage preserve the aspect ratio to the nearest whole pixel. Exact size stretches the image and can change its proportions. With enlargement off, each output stays within its original dimensions. Resizing cannot restore missing detail. Smooth interpolation suits photos; pixelated interpolation keeps hard pixel edges.

    What changes in the exported images?

    Every result is re-encoded, even when dimensions do not change. Source EXIF, GPS and other metadata are not copied. Outputs use sRGB and standard dynamic range; wide-gamut colors, HDR and high-bit-depth detail can change. Animated and multi-image inputs become one still image; TIFF uses its first image. PNG and WebP retain alpha transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with your background color. JPEG and WebP are lossy; PNG can make photographs larger. Actual byte counts show when size did not decrease.

    What happens if a file fails or I cancel?

    A failed image gets its own error; the batch continues with the remaining files. Cancel stops processing and keeps completed downloads. Resize images runs the queue again with the current settings. Changing settings clears stale results. Reset clears files, results and settings; removing an image releases its result.

    Are my files uploaded or stored?

    No. Image processing and ZIP creation run in your browser. The tool does not upload, log or persist your files. It processes one image at a time and releases decoded pixels after each output. Selected files and compressed results stay in memory until you remove them, reset or leave the page.

    How large can a batch or ZIP be?

    There is no tool-imposed file-count, byte or pixel cap. Browser memory and canvas capabilities still limit practical processing; failures are reported. ZIP downloads use ZIP32, with fewer than 65,535 entries and an archive below 4 GiB, including headers and filenames. ZIP does not recompress the images. If ZIP creation fails, individual image downloads remain available. Use a current browser for the widest format support.
