Days are elapsed 24-hour periods, not calendar days. Partial seconds round up. At or past the target, the countdown stops at zero.
How to use
- Enter your target
Choose a date, time and timezone. Midnight is the start of the chosen date.
- Start the countdown
Choose the full breakdown or total seconds. Editing any setting stops the old countdown; start again to apply your changes.
- Save a snapshot
Copy or download the current result. Stop freezes a timestamped snapshot; Reset clears the date and restores the defaults.
Timing and timezones
Clock changes
A local time skipped by a forward clock change is rejected. A time repeated by a backward change needs an explicit UTC offset to identify the intended occurrence.
Elapsed time
A local day can span 23 or 25 hours around daylight saving. This countdown divides actual remaining seconds into 24-hour days, without approximating months or years.
Your device sets the time
Each update uses the current device clock. Background tabs may update less often; returning to the tab refreshes the countdown. Changing your system clock changes the remaining time.
Frequently asked questions
Will this ring an alarm or keep running after I close the page?
No. There is no sound, notification or background alarm. Closing or reloading the page clears the countdown. This is a visual countdown, not a scheduling service.
What dates and timezones can I use?
Positive Gregorian years within the browser’s native Date range are supported, including leap dates. Date-picker navigation varies by browser. Local timezone rules come from the browser’s installed data; UTC and explicit offsets identify an instant without regional rules. Leap seconds are not modeled.
What happens if the date is already past?
The page shows Target reached with zero remaining time. It never presents a negative countdown.
Are my dates saved or uploaded?
Calculations run in your browser. Inputs are not uploaded or stored. Copying or downloading saves a timestamped text snapshot only when you choose it; that text does not update itself.
